Mr. Jose T Vali is a progressive cardamom grower. The productivity of the holding planted in 1999 by him in Ayyappankoil village, Idukki district was an astounding 5750 kgs of dry cardamom per ha. which is an all time record.

High yielding planting materials, maintenance of soil fertility through judicious application of organic manures, systematic soil and moisture conservation practices besides his constant contact with extension agencies for acquiring latest techniques in scientific cultivation helped him in reaching the coveted position of the best cardamom grower.
